Are there any drawing books, tablets/software you'd recommend to total newbs like me? :p

I never really consulted books when I learned to draw (which I’m still learning to do). Early on I did a lot of tracing until I could understand shapes and line styles artists were doing. When I felt comfortable reproducing stuff I went on to make it on my own.

For a majority of my time drawing I’ve used a bamboo tablet (one of those 50$ kind). Only in the last two years did I get a wacom companion. You can see the huge improvement that purchase made in my work. But its very spendy.

I’ve used photoshop, corel paint, paint tool sai, and manga studio. They each were okay and filled a need. For the past couple years I’ve used manga studio and have been very happy with it. It fills all the needs I have and works nicely on the tablet.
