I couple individuals have raised the question of commissions. I haven’t done a commission in over 4 years. I do the occasional art trade with friends, or simply fanart someone because I feel like it.
But now I’m giving more serious consideration to the idea of opening up commissions.
However, I am uncertain on a couple points and would appreciate some feedback on it.
1) How much is fair? I know that I am not the best on the market, so I don’t want to mark myself too high :p But I’m slow and ponderous. Since my time is valuable to me, I don’t want to price my commissions too low.
2) What is a reasonable way to find buyers? I post my work on y!gallery, furaffinity, deviantart and tumblr. Should I just make commissions available on one place, or should I open them on all and hope I can moderate all of them quickly before I fill up my list? I don’t foresee a huge rush, but I don’t want a backlog of more than two or three individuals.
3) Media would be digital only. There would be on physical copy involved because I work purely in Painter and Photoshop.
4) I think I’ll reserve the right to be picky. If I don’t like your idea, I will probably pass it over in favor of something I’d at least enjoy doing. I don’t think my commissions will be for profit, but more an opportunity to open myself to options. And I’d also expect a lot of leeway. I’m not a professional, this is my hobby.
5) Would anyone actually be interested in commissions in the first place? This probably should have been up near the top before I gave too much thought to this XD
Well, thankfully there are hundreds of other artists out there willing to draw that kind of thing, so the world isn’t missing out much by me not participating :p
There are a lot of people in the world who think that being a dom means that you get a human plaything that you can do whatever you want to (“Cuz they’re a sub and they get off on being hurt and used! Duh!”).
Hmmm. Not a lot of artists that I admire or respect that use themes or characters that I could draw from to use. I don’t follow many artists kink-wise. And those ‘professional’ artists that I do follow use media or themes that I cannot mimic (which is why I like them :p)
I definitely want to do this. Its not for a lack of trying - I have piles of unfinished womenly pictures. I just never get things to look the way I want for whatever reason >_> I shall try again!
There is something horrifying about the prospect of a housepet whose bite can snap my thighbone in half. Any treats for it will be offered at the farthest end of a very long pole. :p
Its like a kinky mad lib or something.
I’m off on break prior to my final semester of school so I’ve got a lot of down time. Unfortunately I’m rather devoid of any good ideas for artistry so I’m opening myself up to requests. Or really any feedback that answers the subject line above :p Go wild, pitch whatever.
The only real stipulation is I don’t want any “draw my characters, my fursona, or my persona” responses.
I suspect I was a tad bit more cruel in my earlier days. A lot of that stuff was just pure fantasy. The more real world bdsm experience I got, the less interested I was in fantasy.
Moreso, the more real world experience I got the more I realized there were mooks out there who thought fantasy stuff actually had a place in real bdsm scenes. I’ve met too many subs with horror stories of doms who file peoples’ teeth down or given severe beatings on par with spousal abuse, ignoring safewords. Really pissed me off.
So I decided to stop supporting that kind of thing and focus more on realistic relationships and realistic kinks. *shrugs* It probably hasn’t accomplished anything, but it makes me feel better about it.
I think that storyline and that picture are my legacy :p I am better remembered and known for them than any of the nonsense that I am drawing these days. Like Patrick Stewart and his Picard legacy, I’m okay with that. :p
Though sadly I will probably no revisit any of it. They were both hefty ordeals to pull off.
Here’s a video of a Japanese man who has the record for fastest human on all fours. All I can think is “puppy!” He needs to teach classes - this style of puppy walking would definitely make it easy to take morning jogs with people’s leather pups ;)
